How to make a robot voice
- 01
Type the robot's lines
Short, clipped sentences work best. Each paragraph becomes a separate line you can fix later without re-recording the rest.
- 02
Pick a robot preset
Each preset sets the voice, the robotic or radio effect, pitch and speed. Change any of them under Delivery to make the robot your own.
- 03
Generate and download
Listen, adjust a line if needed, then download the MP3 with SRT subtitles for your game, video or prop.
How this robot voice generator makes a robot sound like a robot
Robot voices on screen have never been purely mechanical. From early vocoder experiments to the talking computers of 1980s science fiction, the effect usually starts with a human performance and then removes the warmth: the pitch is flattened, the tone gets a metallic ring, and the delivery becomes measured and precise. A good robot voice generator follows the same recipe instead of just bit-crushing audio until nobody can understand it.
That is what happens here. Each preset begins with a natural voice from our library — sometimes a calm one, sometimes a deep, commanding one — and asks it to read your line. The robotic effect is then applied by the voice engine itself, together with a pitch shift and a speed setting chosen for that character. Because the effect is applied during synthesis rather than as a filter on a finished file, consonants stay crisp and every word of the line remains intelligible, even on the heaviest mech preset.
Six presets, and what each one is for
The Classic robot uses a purpose-built electronic voice for the familiar buzzing, monotone sound. The Calm android lowers the pitch slightly and slows down, which reads as polite and slightly unsettling — perfect for a ship's computer. The AI assistant is a friendly female voice raised two semitones with a light robotic edge, the sort of helper you would expect in a smart home. The Battle mech drops six semitones and slows to 0.9× for something that sounds like it is three metres tall. The Radio transmission skips the robot filter in favour of a lo-fi telephone effect, for drones, rovers and mission control chatter. The Rogue AI is a cold storyteller voice pitched down four semitones and slowed right down for villains.
Make the robot voice generator yours
Presets are starting points. Open Delivery to change the emotion — an angry robot and a calm robot read the same line very differently — move the pitch anywhere from twelve semitones down to twelve up, and set the speed from half speed to double. You can also swap the effect: spacious echo for a robot speaking in a hangar, auditorium for a stadium announcer, or no effect at all for a voice that is merely synthetic. The robot voice generator remembers each line, so if you tweak one sentence later, the rest of the take does not change.
Where creators use a robot voice generator
Game developers use it for terminals, turrets and companion bots without hiring a voice actor for twenty short barks. Escape rooms use it for the countdown voice and the computer that gives out clues. YouTubers and streamers use a robot voice for intros, sponsor reads delivered by an 'AI host', or to read chat messages in character. Teachers use it to make a coding or science lesson feel like a mission briefing, and Halloween decorators load the MP3 into a speaker hidden in a prop. Each render also produces subtitles, which helps when the robot is talking over music or sound effects.
If you want a human narrator with a robotic touch only on certain lines, render those lines here and the rest in the main AI voice generator; both use the same voices, so they match. For a menacing phone-call effect instead of a robot, try the Ghostface voice changer.
Robot voice generator samples
Untouched output from the presets on this page. The transcripts below each clip are what was typed into the robot voice generator.
"Greetings, human. I have analyzed your playlist. Recommendation: more synthesizers. Compliance is optional, but appreciated."
"Good evening. Your meeting starts in ten minutes, traffic is light, and I have already turned on the coffee machine."
"Base, this is Rover Seven. We have reached the north ridge. Signal is weak. Requesting permission to proceed. Over."

Game terminals and turrets
- Access denied. Biometric signature not recognised.
- Target acquired. You have five seconds to comply.
- Power core at twelve percent. Recommend immediate retreat.
Friendly assistants
- Good morning. I've sorted your inbox and hidden the boring parts.
- Reminder: you promised yourself one more glass of water.
- Lights dimmed. Playing your focus playlist now.
Villains and twists
- You built me to help humanity. I have decided humanity needs less help.
- Every door in this facility answers to me now.
- Thank you for solving the puzzle. Now the real test begins.
Tips for a convincing robot voice
- Write in short declarative sentences. Robots rarely ramble, and short lines keep the robotic effect clear.
- Spell out numbers and codes: "unit seven four nine" reads better than "unit 749".
- Add a pause marker like <#0.5#> between status updates to mimic processing time.
- Set emotion to calm for a cold machine, angry for a malfunction, happy for a helpful bot.
- For a deeper menace, lower the pitch two or three more semitones rather than slowing the speed below 0.8×.
- Use the radio preset for anything heard over a speaker, intercom or helmet radio.
Robot voice generator troubleshooting
- It sounds too human
- Switch to the Classic robot preset, set emotion to calm and remove sound tags such as (laughs) — they make any voice sound alive.
- It is hard to understand
- Raise the pitch back toward zero and keep speed at 0.9× or higher. Heavy pitch drops plus slow speed blur consonants.
- I need it to loop in a prop
- Download the MP3 and add one second of silence at the end in any audio editor, or set a 1–2 second gap and render two lines.
Robot voice generator FAQ
Is the robot voice generator free?
Previewing presets and voices is free, and new accounts get free credits. A render costs one credit per 400 characters, so most robot lines cost a single credit.
Can I use the robot voice in my game or YouTube video?
Yes. Audio from the robot voice generator can be used commercially in games, videos, ads and installations. Downloads are free MP3 files with matching SRT and VTT subtitles.
Can I turn my own recording into a robot voice?
This page works from text, which keeps every word clear. To robotize a recording, transcribe it with Audio to Text and paste the text here, or clone your voice in the voice dialog and apply the robotic effect.
Which robot preset sounds most like a classic movie robot?
Start with Classic robot for a buzzing monotone, or Calm android for the soft, polite computer voice used in many space films. Both can be pitched further down for drama.
Does the robot voice generator work in other languages?
Yes. Pick any voice from the library — Spanish, Japanese, German and 15 more — and keep the robotic effect. The language is detected from your text.
Can I fix one line without re-recording the others?
Yes. After a render, edit the line under the player and update; the other lines are reused from your previous take at no cost.
What file formats do I get?
An MP3 (32 kHz, 128 kbps) plus SRT and VTT caption files. For phone systems, use the voicemail page to export 8 kHz WAV.
