Archetypes first: how this anime voice generator is organised
Anime characters are written in archetypes, and the voice is half of the archetype. The hot-blooded hero speaks fast and loud and never doubts himself out loud for long. The cool, distant queen barely raises her voice because she doesn't need to. The butler is unfailingly polite even when he is threatening you. The genki girl is pure energy, a semitone higher than anyone else in the room. Rather than offering a hundred anonymous voices, this anime voice generator starts from those roles and gives each one a preset you can use immediately.
The Japanese presets use native Japanese voices built for character work: Optimistic Youth for the hero, Decisive Princess, Cold Queen, Gentle Butler and Loyal Knight, with Innocent Boy, Serious Commander, Graceful Maiden, Kind Lady, Sporty Student and Dominant Man available in the voice picker for supporting cast. Because they are native speakers, intonation, sentence-final particles and the rhythm of polite and casual speech come out the way a Japanese listener expects. The English presets are tuned for dub-style delivery: a bright, quick genki girl pitched two semitones up, a determined rival, and a quiet villain pitched down and slowed for menace.
Sub or dub: writing for the anime voice generator
For Japanese lines, write in normal Japanese with kana and kanji; the voices handle both and read 「quotes」 and ! with the right energy. Exclamation marks matter — 「行くぞ!」 is read with far more force than 「行くぞ。」. If a name has an unusual reading, add a pronunciation fix with the kana you want, and every line in the render will use it. For English dub lines, short exclamations and honorifics work naturally: "Senpai, wait up!" reads exactly as you would expect.
Emotion is where anime lines live or die. Leave it on automatic for dialogue and the anime voice generator chooses a mood from the words, or set it by hand when a character must sound angry, scared or surprised regardless of the text. A single sound tag adds a lot: (gasps) before a transformation reveal, (laughs) for a smug rival, (sighs) for the tired senpai.
What people make with an anime voice generator
Indie developers voice visual novels and RPG barks without booking a studio for every line. Animators test timing with a temp voice before casting. Fan creators make parody dubs and shorts, VTubers give their sidekick or mascot a voice, and language learners hear a line read by a native speaker in a dramatic context that is much more memorable than a textbook. The subtitles that come with each render are timed to the speech, which makes typesetting a fan sub or adding captions to a short straightforward.
The voices are original and are not modelled on any real voice actor. If you need a character that does not exist in the library, describe it — 'a sleepy teenage girl, monotone, mumbling' — in the voice dialog and design one, or browse more character voices in Spanish, Portuguese and Korean in the main AI voice generator. For a mechanical sidekick, the robot voice generator has android and mech presets.
Anime voice generator samples
Two Japanese presets and one English dub preset, exactly as rendered.
「絶対にあきらめない!みんなの想いを背負って、俺はここで勝つんだ!」 — I'll never give up! I'm carrying everyone's hopes, and I'm winning right here!
「あなたの忠誠など、最初から信じていなかったわ。下がりなさい。」 — I never believed in your loyalty to begin with. Leave.
"Senpai! You're late again! I already ate half your bento, but don't worry, I saved you the best part!"

Tips for better anime lines
- Use ! and ? in Japanese; punctuation changes intensity more than any setting.
- Keep each line to one or two sentences so emotion stays focused.
- For a whisper effect, write the line softly and lower speed to 0.9×; the Japanese voices don't need a separate whisper mode.
- Add a pronunciation fix for character names with unusual readings, using kana.
- Raise pitch by one or two semitones for younger characters rather than changing the voice.
- Write honorifics the way you want them said: 'senpai', 'sensei', '-chan'.
Anime voice generator troubleshooting
- The Japanese voice reads my English oddly
- Japanese voices read English with a Japanese accent. For English dialogue, use the English dub presets or any English voice.
- A kanji is read wrong
- Add a pronunciation fix with the kana reading you want, then update that line — only the changed line is charged.
- The hero sounds too calm
- Set emotion to happy or angry, add ! at the end and raise speed to 1.05×.
Anime voice generator FAQ
Are these voices copied from real voice actors?
No. The anime voice generator uses original voices from our library. They match common character archetypes but are not based on any real performer.
Can the anime voice speak English?
Yes. Use the English dub presets — genki girl, rival and villain — or any English voice. Japanese voices can read English but will sound accented.
Is the anime voice generator free?
Listening to every character voice costs nothing, and a fresh account comes with starter credits. After that it's one credit per 400 characters — a typical anime line is well under that, so one credit each.
Can I use the voices in my visual novel or game?
Yes. Audio made with the library voices is cleared for commercial use in games, visual novels, videos and VTuber streams.
How do I make a character that isn't in the list?
Use the voice dialog under the player: write a short character sheet — age, energy, quirks, how they talk — and a new voice is designed for 50 credits. It then shows up in your own voice list.
Do I get subtitles for fan subs?
Yes — each take comes with caption files (SRT and VTT) whose timings follow the generated speech. For translated versions, pair them with the AI dubbing tool.
Can I change one line of a scene later?
Yes. Edit that line under the player and update; the rest of the scene is reused from your previous render at no cost.
