Make a trailer voice in three steps

  1. 01

    Write it like a trailer

Short fragments, one idea per line. Ellipses become natural beats, and pause markers give you exact silences.

  2. 02

    Choose the genre preset

Epic, British epic, horror, action, family or prestige. Each sets a deep voice, a pitch drop, a slower pace and a hall or echo effect.

  3. 03

    Render, tweak, export

Re-record any single line without touching the rest, then download the MP3 and SRT for your edit.

What makes a movie trailer voice

For about thirty years, trailers had a sound of their own: a single, impossibly deep narrator opening with "In a world..." and pausing just long enough for a drum hit. That style became so familiar that it turned into a joke, and then into a tool every editor wants for parodies, game teasers, student films, wedding videos and product launches. A movie trailer voice is not one setting; it is a combination of four things, and this movie trailer voice generator controls all four.

The first is pitch. Trailer narrators sit at the bottom of their range, so every preset starts from a naturally deep voice and drops it further, between one and four semitones. The second is pace. Trailer copy is read slower than normal speech, around 0.85–0.9×, which gives each word weight. The third is space: the voice sounds as if it is filling a theatre, so the presets add an auditorium reverb or, for horror, a cold spacious echo. The fourth is silence. Trailers breathe in fragments, and the gaps between phrases are where the music and the cuts happen.

Silence is the secret of a movie trailer voice generator

Write ellipses and the voice naturally hesitates. For exact control, type a pause marker such as <#1.2#> between phrases; the generator holds exactly 1.2 seconds of silence there, so the line "This summer <#1.2#> one voice will break the silence" leaves room for your hit. You can also put each fragment on its own line and set the gap between lines under Delivery, which makes it easy to retime a whole teaser without rewriting anything.

Six genres, six movie trailer voice presets

Epic uses the Man With Deep Voice three semitones down at 0.88× in an auditorium — the classic blockbuster read. British epic swaps in the Deep-voiced Gentleman for fantasy, historical drama and anything with castles. Horror pitches a cold storyteller voice four semitones down, slows it to 0.82× and adds a spacious echo, so whispers seem to come from the dark. Action uses an assertive debater voice with a hall effect for hard-hitting, faster teasers. Family is a jovial, warm voice with a light echo for animated features and holiday films. Prestige is the Imposing Queen voice, slightly lowered, for awards-season dramas and documentaries where restraint sounds more expensive than volume.

From teaser to poster

Most uses are short: a 30-second teaser is around 300 characters, which costs a single credit in this movie trailer voice generator. Because each line is stored separately, you can try the same tagline in three presets, keep the lines you like, and re-record only the ones that need another take. The SRT that comes with every render gives you on-screen title cards with exact timing — handy when the narration should appear as text on black between shots.

For narration that should not sound like a trailer, the main AI voice generator has the same voices at normal settings. To score your teaser, generate an original cue with the AI music generator or a hit-heavy bed in the sound effect generator.

Movie trailer voice samples

Raw output from three presets. Add your own music underneath — the voice is delivered dry apart from the preset's reverb.

Epic preset

"In a world where silence is the law... one voice will break it. This summer... the story begins."

Horror preset

"They told her the house was empty. They were wrong. Some doors... should stay closed."

Prestige drama preset

"From the director who refused to look away comes a story about the price of telling the truth."

Trailer script templates

Paste a template into the movie trailer voice generator and swap in your own nouns.

Epic

  • In a world where [rule]... one [hero] dares to [act].
  • Some legends are born. This one was built.
  • This [season]... everything changes.

Horror

  • They should have listened to the warnings.
  • Every house has a history. This one has a memory.
  • Don't. Turn. Around.

Parody and personal

  • In a world of unanswered emails... one intern said yes to everything.
  • This June... two families. One wedding. Zero chill.
  • Coming soon to a living room near you: Dad Learns the Remote.

Writing copy for a movie trailer voice

  • Use fragments, not paragraphs. "Three friends. One summer. No way back." beats a full sentence.
  • Put every fragment on its own line so you can retime or re-record it alone.
  • Insert <#1#> to <#2#> second pauses before the title reveal.
  • End on the title or the date. Trailers close on a noun, not an explanation.
  • Keep sound tags out of epic reads; a single (breath) can work in horror.
  • If it sounds too slow, raise speed to 0.95× before raising the pitch.

Troubleshooting the trailer voice

The reverb muddies my music
Switch the effect to none under Delivery and add your own reverb in the edit, where you can match it to the score.
It sounds rushed
Split long sentences into fragments and add pause markers; slowing the speed below 0.8× tends to smear words.
I need a female trailer voice
Use the Prestige preset, or pick Confident Woman or Compelling Lady and lower the pitch one or two semitones.

Movie trailer voice generator FAQ

Is this the voice of a famous trailer narrator?

No. The movie trailer voice generator recreates the style — deep pitch, slow pace, reverb and pauses — with voices from our own library. It does not imitate any real person.

How do I add dramatic pauses?

Type a pause marker like <#1.5#> between phrases for an exact silence, or put each phrase on its own line and set the gap between lines under Delivery.

Can I use the trailer voice in a commercial project?

Yes. Renders from the stock voices can be used in ads, game trailers, YouTube videos and events. Downloads are free.

How much does a trailer voiceover cost?

Billing is by characters: every 400 characters of new text uses one credit. Teasers rarely run past 300 characters, so a full take usually costs a single credit, and signing up gives you a few to start.

Can I turn off the reverb?

Yes. Set the effect to none under Delivery to get a dry voice you can process yourself.

Does it work for game trailers and YouTube intros?

That's the most common use. Pair the epic preset with a short title card and use the SRT to time on-screen text.

Can I make a parody trailer of my friends?

Yes — that is what the parody templates are for. Keep it kind, and don't present it as a real film announcement.
