How to make a lyric video

  1. 01

    Add your song

Choose an MP3, WAV or M4A. It stays on your device; only a compressed copy is uploaded if you use AI sync.

  2. 02

    Sync the lyrics

Auto-sync transcribes and times every line for one credit per five minutes. Or paste lyrics and press Space as each line starts — free.

  3. 03

    Style it and export

Pick a template, ratio, font, colours and background, watch the live preview, then export an MP4 in 1080p or 720p.

A lyric video maker that does the syncing for you

The slowest part of making a lyric video has never been the design. It is the timing: scrubbing back and forth to find where each line starts, nudging a text layer by a few frames, and doing it again for forty lines. This lyric video maker removes that step. Upload the song, press auto-sync, and the lyrics come back already timed to the vocal — each line with its start time, and each word with its own timestamp so karaoke and word-by-word styles can follow the singer exactly.

If you would rather not use AI or credits, paste the lyrics, press play and tap Space each time a new line begins. Tap-to-sync is free and surprisingly fast: a three-minute song takes three minutes. Either way, every line stays editable afterwards, both the text and its start time, so a misheard word or a late entry is a quick fix rather than a redo.

Four styles in the lyric video maker

Karaoke sweep shows the full line and fills it with a highlight colour as it is sung, word by word when timings are available. Centered fade brings each line up in the middle of the screen with the next line waiting underneath, the classic look for YouTube lyric uploads. Bottom subtitles keep the background visible and put two lines at the bottom, like a music video with captions. Word by word builds the line as it is sung, popping each new word in — the style that works best on TikTok and Reels. All four include an opening title card with the song title and artist, shown until the first lyric arrives.

Backgrounds: gradient, your image, or AI

Start with one of five animated gradients, upload your album cover or a photo, or describe a scene and generate an AI background for one credit. Still images get a slow zoom so the frame never feels frozen, plus a soft dark overlay to keep the lyrics readable. If you have made a cover with the album cover generator, it makes a natural background for the lyric video too.

Rendered in your browser, exported as MP4

The video is encoded on your own device using the browser's built-in video encoder, so there is no upload, no render queue and no charge for exporting — make as many versions as you like. On recent Chrome, Edge and Safari the lyric video maker writes an MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio that YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and every editor accept. Where the browser lacks an H.264 encoder, it falls back to WebM. A three-minute song typically exports in under a minute on a laptop at 1080p; choose 720p for a faster render on older machines.

Already have synced lyrics? Run the song through the lyrics transcriber and use its lyric-video button — the timings carry straight over into the lyric video maker. For a performance-style clip instead of text on screen, try the AI music video generator.

Exported with this lyric video maker

Twelve-second excerpts from two exports of the same Mandarin song, auto-synced with AI and rendered in the browser. Only trimming was done afterwards.

Karaoke sweep, 16:9, gradient background

Each line fills with yellow as it is sung.

Word by word, 9:16, image background

Words pop in on their own timestamps; the background is a still frame with a slow zoom.

Lyric video maker tips

  • Fix the lyrics before styling: a misheard word on screen is more noticeable than a misheard word in audio.
  • Use 9:16 and word by word for social clips; 16:9 and centered fade for full songs on YouTube.
  • Pick a highlight colour from your cover art so the video and release look like a set.
  • If a line appears late, type a slightly earlier start time — lyrics read better a beat ahead.
  • Keep backgrounds calm. The lyric video maker darkens images, but busy photos still compete with text.
  • Export a 720p draft to check timing, then the 1080p final.

Lyric video maker FAQ

Is the lyric video maker free?

Tap-to-sync and video export are free. AI auto-sync costs one credit per five minutes of audio and an AI background costs one credit; new accounts include free credits.

How does auto-sync work?

The song is transcribed with word-level timestamps, words are grouped into lyric lines, and each line and word keeps its exact time. You can edit any line afterwards.

Can I use my own lyrics instead of AI transcription?

Yes. Paste them one line per row, press 'tap to sync', and hit Space as each line starts while the song plays.

What format is the exported video?

MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio on Chrome, Edge and Safari, or WebM where H.264 encoding isn't available. 1080p or 720p, at 30 frames per second.

Is my song uploaded?

Not for tap-to-sync or exporting — both happen in your browser. Auto-sync uploads a compressed speech-quality copy for transcription only.

Can I make vertical lyric videos for TikTok and Reels?

Yes. Choose 9:16; the word-by-word template is designed for vertical, fast-scrolling feeds.

Does it work with songs in other languages?

Yes. Auto-sync handles 18 languages including Spanish, Japanese, Korean and Chinese, and tap-to-sync works with any text.
